Natural Paper Production Workshop

The “Alim” Occupational Rehabilitation Workshop is a unique workshop.
At the workshop the rehabilitants produce paper through a simple manual process that is environmentally friendly according to a traditional Japanese technique.
The paper is produced from the bark of the mulberry trees growing at a small plantation at Moshav Shomera that is supplemented by additional materials in a slow process of grinding, cooking and mixing in water.  Afterwards it is drawn out and dried, leaving attractive paper.  The paper produced by the rehabilitants is quality paper of a superior texture and has a natural and colorful look.  It is finished in a number of sizes and textures and one can work and print on it.
The production process of the paper demands concentration, patience and skill and is open to everyone interested in working in an occupation that merges together touch, thinking and planning.
The workshop is active for 7 hours twice a week in a close family atmosphere.
It absorbs rehabilitants with various types of disabilities.
The paper is used for object d’art such as postcards, greetings cards, lampshades and certificates, etc.
